Founded in 1972, the Rho Alpha Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta has been on the Virginia Tech campus for almost 50 years. Our fraternity prides itself with great Friendship, Knowledge,Service, Morality, and Excellence. Virginia Tech Fijis are very active among the various activities at Virginia Tech and are always continuing to pursue the goal of excellence.
The International Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, commonly known as Fiji, is a college-based social fraternity founded on May 1, 1848 at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, Phi Gamma Delta proudly boasts ~160 active chapters on college and university campuses throughout the United States and Canada. With approximately 11,000 undergraduate and over 110,000 living graduate brothers, Fiji men have a profound influence throughout the world.
The Rho Alpha chapter of Phi Gamma Delta currently has 109 undergraduate brothers and new members/pledges, along with a few active graduate brothers attending graduate school here at Virginia Tech.

My Fiji experience opened the door for me to meet people with diverse interests whom I otherwise might not have had the opportunity to know – guys who played football or fellows who were becoming engineers, architects lawyers – not just golfers. The best part of all was I formed friendships I still have today. I got my education at Ohio State, but it was through Phi Gamma Delta that I really learned how to be a friend and appreciate people from all walks of life.””
